Marie Claire Stacey
“on a high with a brush in her hand”
Born in Dublin Marie-Claire has been coming to Kerry since she was 4 months old, and has been a permanent resident for the past 20 years.
She began painting and drawing during her 12 years in the Nigerian bush and went out to teach the local African people the art of “hinterglass” wich is reverse painting on glass.
Once back in Kerry, she studied watercolor painting. Her work particularly of Kerry landscapes, for which she has a fierce passion, is now hanging in collections around the world.
Marie Claire lives in Dooks in a fascinating house , transported 85 years ago from Valentia Island, where it was the first transatlantic cable station.
