Janet Tvedten Fitzgerald

Originally from Kansas City, educated at the Kansas City Art Institute. Janet is Daughter of a Chief of the Kansas City Fire Department and a talented Kansas City Singer, who traces her roots to the founder of Dodge City Kansas. Janet’s interest in Art was fostered from an early age by her Father, a keen artist himself. He often set up still lifes, and encouraged his six children to sketch along side him.

In 2001 Janet met her husband Seamus in Cork, on a visit to see her Mother, who had previously returned to live in Ireland, the homeland of her Father. Living in Kerry now, Janet is especially inspired by the people (particularly faces), the land and the flora.

Janet paints in oil and acrylic. She uses pallet knives or fingers in her painting technique. Gazing of the oils and layering to achieve a depth of color.
